Exploring

So it was sad when they started off clinic by telling us that exploring is the hardest thing to get :s But reading the material helped. I was able to pass off the PE that was due today but I really want to get back on top so I don't have the stress of having to pass it off that day and not have some flexibility.
For next time I will read the material of course. But I am also taking a mirror and explorer home so that I can practicec on my typodont. When I practiced on Julie, she said that I was using too much pressure and that made me feel so sad and worried the rest of the time. I also need to focus on keeping my tip on the tooth and rolling. Once I'm sure of myself I can start to feel for calculus and such. I think if I get comfortable with how to access the tooth I should be able to loosen up my grip too.
But the working-end concept made a lot more sense this time. I'm glad that I kept asking for help and finally I could see what they were talking about and how to distinguish. Hopefully I can be more gentle next time so my patients don't end up hating me!
