Cool Veteran

Yesterday was a good day at the VA. In the morning I saw two patients. I don't remember the last time I got to do that so it was fun! My second pt had major sensitivity with almost no calculus (luckily). But trying to get probes seemed painful to her because of the metal contact.
My afternoon pt was so cool! He had recently been hit by an IED (road-side bombing) and he was experiencing all of these side effects from it. His teeth had started turning yellow and the DDS told him to come see us before he starting whitening. His mouth was very tender so I placed Oraqix prior to probing. It was fun to use it again but apparently it doesn't taste very good (not really a surprise). And my x-rays weren't the best but he had such a hard time with the sensor. Connie told me to do the best I could without causing too much pain and discomfort (x-rays and scaling); we didn't want to stress him out at all. But he was a really sweet guy and shared a little bit of his experiences. It made me really appreciate our veterans and all that they go through in order to keep us safe back home! He said he was even suppose to come speak to us about what the veterans have gone through and explain why some are a little different. I also want to read the book he's publishing. We had a good time and laughed a lot; it was a great end to the day :)
