I'm not doing too well...I didn't get any PE's passed off like I would have liked. But part of that has to do with the fact that all I have seen this semester are Class V's (and a 1B). Sigh. Too bad I'm not in private practice already, then I'd been smooth sailing! The day did start out pretty funny because my morning patient received her first ticket ever on her way to the appt. She was a little upset by it but it was still fun to see her :)
My afternoon patient was a little over-the-top but very sweet. He brought us all candy :) Then he kept complimenting how gentle I was and concerned about my patients. He said that he wants to follow my into private practice and that if I had been born 30 yrs earlier...that's my most eccentric patient ever!!! Anyway, he hadn't been in since 1994 so I was totally expecting to find some perio. I took forever on his FMX because he had to tell me stories inbetween each x-ray. But then he didn't have enough calculus so he was just a perio maintenance. Where is everyone finding the perio??? I know it's only two into it but it makes me really nervous for Boards and the rest of the semester. I did learn one really cool thing. My afternoon pt. was having a hard time getting the 45 degree idea so he had me hold my hands up to represent the teeth and then move his fingers like the TB bristles. It worked perfectly! Especially since we have long sleeves so I used them as the gingiva so demo sweeping under them. It was a great OHI moment ;)
Just one question: How far do I go into the semester before I start giving V's to a first year or something so that I can find some perio??
