Not what I expected

Today was a pretty awesome day! My morning pt. was a previous patron of the Midtown Clinic's hygienist so there was some confusion about whether he'd been in or not. I was fully expecting him to be a Class V because he'd been in around August. To my surprise he had so much sheet calculus that he was a Class III. Not a mockboard but I'll definitely take it ;) Yay!!! So I pulled out a bunch of PE's and that made me feel like I got so much done on top on finding perio. Plus I did some more injections! I was pretty nervous because I have only done like 6 of them but I was surprised at how steady my hands were and that I found the sites pretty easily. Whew! Then I felt like such a dork when I missed calculus on every posterior tooth in the quad I'd scaled! And all along the ML line angle! Alexander tried to rally my spirits and say that it was a hard spot but it was still sad...He's a sweet old man and I'm excited to see him back.
Then there was some confusion about my afternoon pt. I thought that she was an older lady. But then I pulled out her chart right before and found that not only was she only 10 yrs old, but she already had a preferred provider! Luckily they didn't need her anymore but I was pretty sure a 10 yr old wouldn't qualify for Mockboards...but another experience and some subgingival irrigation. I felt so bad when she said that her gums usually bleed when she brushes :( So hopefully she can use OHI to stop that.
I guess I'll try and find enough new pts for next week so that I can do some screenings for Mockboards...
